Club Constitution

The Bandon Golf Club Constitution sets out the principles that shape our club’s spirit, governance, and sense of community. It ensures fairness, transparency, and respect among members — helping us preserve the proud traditions of Bandon Golf Club while welcoming new generations of golfers.

1.1. The name of the club shall be Bandon Golf Club and this name shall be the common name, by which the Men’s Club, the Ladies Club and the Parent Club shall be individually and collectively known.

1.2. The official Club Colours to be worn by all teams and officials representing the Club shall be Traditional Navy Jumper.

2.1. The Men’s Club shall:
Consist of male members as set out at Rule 3.2 herein and shall: –

2.2. Promote the amateur game of golf amongst its members, accept and abide by the Constitution and Bye-Laws of the Golf Ireland to which the club is affiliated.

2.3. Accept and apply the Handicapping Scheme as prescribed by Golf Ireland and such rules thereunder as may require to be implemented from time to time by the Golf Ireland.

2.4. Accept and recognise the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews as the sole authority for prescribing and implementing the Rules of Amateur Status.

2.5. Authorise the Parent Club to manage matters of common interest, (other than the game of golf and its related activities) which the Men’s Club has with the Ladies Club, subject to and as provided in these rules.

2.6. The Ladies Club shall:
Consist of female members as set out at Rule 3.3 herein and shall: –

2.7. Promote the Amateur game of Golf amongst its members, accept and abide by the Constitution and Bye-Laws of Golf Ireland.

2.8. Accept and apply the Handicapping Scheme as Prescribed by Golf Ireland and such rules thereunder as may require to be implemented from time to time by Golf Ireland.

2.9. Accept and recognise the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews as the sole authority for prescribing and implementing the Rules of Golf and the rules of Amateur Status.

2.10. Authorise the Parent Club to manage matters of common interest, (other than the game of golf and its related activities) which the Ladies Club has with the Men’s Club subject to as provided in these rules.

2.11. The Parent Club shall: Consist of members set out at Rule 3.1 herein and shall: –

2.11.1 Provide facilities for the playing and promotion of the amateur games of golf by men, ladies and juniors and generally promote amateur games and other social activities amongst its members.

2.11.2 Manage matters of common interest of both Men’s and the Ladies clubs which will include:

2.11.3 Provision of and responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the course and clubhouse and their environs to the standard required by members.

2.11.4 Provision of Bar, Catering and other facilities and all that these entail

2.11.5 The management of the business affairs of the club including the keeping of correct accounts and books showing the financial affairs, receipts and disbursements of Bandon Golf Club.

2.12. Bandon Golf Club accepts and shall comply with the rules of amateur status as approved by the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews.

3.1. The membership of the Parent Club shall consist of Male and Female members, Ordinary members, Special members, Honorary members, Junior members, Five Day members, Family members, Special Family members, Pavilion members, Intermediate members, Under-30 members, Beginner Category, Temporary members and Corporate members.

3.2. The membership of the Men’s Club shall consist of Ordinary, Pavilion, Junior, Country, Five day, Intermediate, Under-30 and Beginner Category Members, who have paid the Entrance Levy, (if applicable) and annual subscription applicable to their category. Reduced Entrance Levy to apply to any applicant between the age of 19 and 30 on January 1st. Full Entrance Levy to apply to all applicants aged 30 and over.

3.3. The membership of the Ladies Club shall consist of Ordinary, Pavilion, Junior, Country, Five day, Intermediate, Under-30 and Beginner Category Members, who have paid the Entrance Levy, (if applicable) and annual subscription applicable to their category. Reduced Entrance Levy to apply to any applicant between the age of 19 and 30 on January 1st. Full Entrance Levy to apply to all applicants aged 30 and over.

3.4. Only Ordinary members shall be entitled to attend and vote at Annual General Meetings of Bandon Golf Club.

3.5. The word “member” in this document is taken to mean ordinary member unless otherwise stated.

4.1. Ordinary Members shall comprise of Men and Women who, having paid the Entrance Fee, Annual Subscription and any additional levies raised from time to time applicable to this category, shall be entitled to attend and vote at Annual General and all Special General Meetings of the Parent Club and of the respective Men’s’ or Ladies Club. Only a member in this category shall have an interest in the Club property, which interest shall cease on such Member leaving this category unless the Member has been elected an Honorary Member of the Club.

4.2. Special Members comprise of Men and Women who, having paid the Entrance Fee, Annual Subscription and any levies raised from time to time, applicable to this category, shall not be entitled to attend and vote at Annual General and all Special General Meetings of the respective Men’s and Ladies Clubs.

4.3. Special Members shall consist of Country Members, Five day Members and Lady Associates who have paid the Entrance Levy, and annual subscription and any additional levy raised from time to time appropriate to their particular categories. The Annual Subscription for Country Membership shall be 60% of the Ordinary Subscription. No new Lady Associates or Five-Day Members may be elected to the Club.

4.4. Full Family Membership shall consist of a Husband and Wife or co-habitees, both of whom shall be Ordinary Members and up to three children who are Junior Members. Family members under 10 years of age shall at all times be accompanied by a parent/guardian/appropriate adult when on Club property. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 213% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.5. Special Family Membership shall consist of a Husband and Wife or co-habitees where the husband shall be an Ordinary Member and the wife shall be a Special Member and up to three children who are Junior Members. No new Members of this category shall be elected to the Club.

4.6. Junior Members shall be confined to those who are over eight years of age and under 19 years of age on January 1st. Junior Members under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian/appropriate adult while on Club property. Junior members shall not automatically be entitled to become Intermediate members of the Club. The Management Committee may, in consultation with the Men’s and Ladies Committee decline to approve such transfer if they are satisfied that the Junior member concerned has failed to properly avail of the opportunity afforded to play and learn the game of golf. Subject to this, a Junior member may on attaining the age of 19 years be offered Intermediate membership if one is available. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 15% of the Ordinary Subscription for Juniors under 14 on 1st January, and 20% of the Ordinary Subscription for Juniors who are over 14 on 1st January.

4.7. Any person who in the opinion of the Management Committee has rendered exceptional service to the Club, or to the game of golf, or whose distinguished position, or public service would render their membership of special advantage to the Club may be elected an Honorary Member of the Club. Honorary Members who prior to their election were Ordinary Members shall have the same rights and privileges as Ordinary Members. All other Honorary Members shall have the same rights and privileges as Special members and they shall have no interest in the Club property, nor shall they be entitled to vote or attend a meeting of the Parent Club.

4.8. Any proposal for Honorary Membership of Bandon Golf Club shall require a 75% majority of those present and voting at a Management Committee Meeting and be subject to ratification by 75% of those present and voting at an Annual General Meeting.

4.9. Pavilion Members shall comprise of persons who wish to enjoy the facilities of the Clubhouse. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 5% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.10. Temporary Membership is confined to Ladies and Gentlemen in respect of whom a green fee is paid. The payment of such green fee shall entitle a visitor to the Temporary Membership of the Club.

4.11. Any Ordinary or Special Member shall be entitled to have his or her Annual Subscription reduced by 20% provided: –

(a) He or she is aged 66 years or over on January 1st and, he or she and has 10 or more consecutive years of Membership. 

(b) Any New Ordinary Member aged 66 or over on the 1st January will pay the ordinary adult rate on joining Bandon Golf Club with an Entrance Levy.  It will be necessary to have 15 consecutive years of membership to qualify for the reduced subscription.

(c) Ordinary members aged 66 or over shall generally be known as Senior Members.

(d) Any Ordinary or Special Member who has attained 80 years of age by January 1st and who has been a Member of Bandon Golf Club for the preceding 25 years will be liable to pay 25% of the Ordinary  Membership. Any Ordinary Member availing of this facility shall have the same rights, privileges and voting rights as Ordinary Members. Any Special Member availing of this facility shall have the same rights, privileges and voting rights as Special Members. Such Members shall generally be known as Elder Members.   

4.12. Country Membership shall be confined to those permanently resident outside a radius of 50 miles from the clubhouse and being Ordinary Members of another affiliated Golf Club. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 60% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.13. Members of any particular category who have availed of an offer of five,10, 20-year membership and paid the appropriate subscription therefore shall be a five,10, 20-year member of that particular category with all the rights and privileges attaching to such category, but without the requirement to pay any further annual subscription until the expiry of the said term. No new five,10, 20-year membership shall be created save with the approval of the members of a General Meeting.

4.14. A Company may with the approval of the Management Committee be admitted as a Corporate Member of the Club. Corporate Membership shall be for the term of three years on terms as set out and approved by the Management Committee. The Corporate Member shall have no right or interest in any of the Club property, nor shall have a right to vote at any meeting of the Club.

4.15. Persons who normally reside outside Ireland for at least 75% of the year are eligible for election or transfer to Overseas Membership. Overseas Members shall be entitled to take part in all Club Competitions but are excluded from winning the Presidents Prize, Captains Prize and Lady Captain’s Prize. They will be subject to full Golf Ireland and Social Levies. Should they return to Ireland, and wish to become Full Members of the Club they will be subject to the normal entrance criteria and application procedures of the Club. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 40% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.16. Intermediate Members shall be confined to those who are under 25 years of age on January 1st, and in continuing education (including apprenticeships, etc.). Intermediate members may on attaining the age of 25 be offered ordinary membership if one is available. Entrance Fees are waived for Junior Member taking up Intermediate Membership and subsequently Ordinary Membership. However, any new applicant for Intermediate Membership will be requested to pay an Entrance Levy. Intermediate members shall be exempt from paying a Social Levy. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 30% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.17. A Special Beginner membership (New to Golf) is available to both Ladies and Gentlemen who never previously held either an ILGU or GUI or Golf Ireland handicap. The annual subscription payable will be discounted by 25% to that applicable to ordinary and intermediate members and can be availed of for a maximum of one year. Full Golf Ireland and social levies apply to beginner membership. After one year, full ordinary membership rates will apply and will include any such Entrance Levy or other levies. In the meantime, there are no voting rights for any individual under Beginner Membership. Beginner members shall be entitled to take part in all club competitions with certain restrictions regarding major events to be decided by the Ladies and Men’s clubs respectively.

4.18. Any Ordinary Member shall be entitled to have his or her Annual Subscription reduced by 30% provided he or she is under 30 on January 1st, and is a non-student. Members in this category shall be known generally as Under-30.

4.19 A Member who may, on medical or other exceptional grounds, be unable to avail of the benefits of their membership, may apply to the Management Committee for a Holding Membership for the current year. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 25% of the Ordinary Subscription.

5.1 There shall be four Trustees – Ordinary Members of Bandon Golf Club. All the property of Bandon Golf Club whether real or personal shall be vested in the Trustees.

5.2. Any vacancy occurring by death, retirement, absence, incapacity, or unfitness shall be filled by election at the next following Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) of the Parent Club.

5.3. The Trustees shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and shall hold Office for four years, and shall be subject to the direction of the Management Committee.

5.4 At the end of each two-year term of office, two only of the Trustees selected will be automatically re-elected and the remaining two Trustees will be required to retire from their Trusteeship but will be eligible for re-election by the Annual General Meeting, and if so re-elected, any Trustee, or Trustees, may hold office for a further two-year term, when two of the other trustees will then be required to retire in the same way.

5.5. The Trustees shall when and so often as they shall be required to do so by a resolution of the Management Committee and approved by Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting with two-thirds of those present voting in favour (of which an entry in the Minute Book shall be sufficient evidence) buy any property or sell, mortgage or charge any property vested in them.

5.6. The Trustees shall be entitled to nominate one of their Members to attend (without voting rights) meetings of the Management Committee if one is not already a member of the said Committee.

5.7. Documentation requiring the signature of the Trustees must be signed by a minimum of two Trustees.

6.1. The business and affairs of the Men’s Club shall be under the jurisdiction and control of a Committee (hereinafter, referred to as “The Men’s Committee”).

6.2. The business and affairs of the Ladies Club shall be under the jurisdiction and control of a Committee (hereinafter, referred to as “The Ladies Committee”).

6.3. The business and affairs of the Parent Club shall be under the jurisdiction and control of the Management Committee elected by the members of the Club present at a Club Annual General Meeting and entitled to vote.

6.4. The Men’s Committee, Ladies Committee and Management Committee may from any time to time form sub-committees and delegate to such sub-committees any of its powers and duties provided that the decision of any sub-committee may be set aside or altered in any way the relevant committee may think fit. Should any item be in dispute, it is the decision of the Management Committee that shall prevail.

6.5. Should matters of importance arise at the Men’s or Ladies Committee, which have to be referred to the Management Committee, the Chairperson of the sub-committee involved shall have the right to attend the meeting of the Management Committee to present the case, if he/she is not a member of the Management Committee.

6.6. The chairperson of a sub-committee may be requested to attend (without voting rights) meetings of the Committee which appointed the sub-committee if he/she is not already a member of that Committee.

7.1. The Ladies Committee shall be elected by the female members in accordance with Rule 14.3.3 and the Men’s Committee shall be elected by the male members in accordance with Rule 14.2.3

7.2. The following officers shall be elected to both Committees.
(a) Captain
(b) Vice-Captain
(c) Honorary Secretary
(d) Honorary Handicap Secretary
(e) Honorary Competitions Secretary
(f) Honorary Assistant Competitions Secretary
(g) Honorary Youth Officer

7.3. Both Captains will hold office until the following A.G.M. and shall not be eligible for re-election for the ensuing year.

7.4. The right of nomination of men’s and ladies Captains and Vice-Captains shall be exclusively with their respective committees.

7.5. The respective captains – men’s and ladies – shall nominate, with the approval of the respective committees, their vice-captains prior to their Annual General Meetings. These nominations will be subject to the approval of the relevant General Meetings.

7.6. The outgoing Captains shall be ex-officio members of their respective Committees for the subsequent year.

7.7. Four male members called “Elected Members” shall be elected to the Men’s Committee and four female members called “Elected Members” shall be elected to the Ladies Committee.

7.8 Any vacancies occurring on the Men’s or Ladies Committees shall be filled by the co-option of Ordinary Members of the Club by the respective Men’s or Ladies Committees.

8.1. The Management Committee shall be constituted as follows: –

8.2. The position of club Chairperson should be open to male and female members. If possible, in a nine year cycle the position would be filled by a Female member for a minimum of three years and a male member for a minimum of three years.

8.2.1 The position of club President should be open to male and female members. If possible, in a three year cycle the position would be filled by a Female member for a minimum of one year and a Male member for a minimum of one year.

8.3. All members of the Management Committee shall resign annually and shall be eligible for re-election at the Annual General Meeting subject to the provision of article 8.10.

8.3.1. If possible, the Management committee should comprise a gender balance of at least 30% women and 30% men.

8.4. The president shall hold office until the next relevant A.G.M. and shall not be eligible for re-election for ensuing year.

8.5. No member may serve more than three consecutive years in any position on the Management Committee, Men’s Committee or Ladies Committee and with the exception of an ex-officio term, not more than seven consecutive years on the Management Committee, Men’s Committee or Ladies Committee.

8.6. Any member will be eligible for re-election to the Management Committee, Men’s Committee or Ladies Committee after a three-year period following the last seven-year term served.

8.7. Members of the Management Committee shall take up their appointments at the Annual General Meeting.

8.8. The Chairperson will chair all meetings of the Management Committee. In the absence of the Chairperson the meeting will be chaired by the President. If both the Chairperson and the President are absent a chairperson shall be elected by those in attendance at that particular meeting. The Chairperson at a meeting shall in addition to a deliberate vote have a casting vote. The Chairperson, or if absent, the President shall also chair the Annual General Meeting and Special General Meetings of that year. If both for any reason, are absent from the AGM another member of the Committee may be nominated.

8.9. The Management Committee shall be required to meet on a minimum of one occasion per month and have for discussion an agenda prepared by the Hon. Secretary. A quorum for all meetings shall be five members.

8.10. All members of the Management Committee, to be elected at the Annual General Meeting must be nominated by two ordinary members of Bandon Golf Club. The nomination must be signed by the nominee, indicating his/her willingness to stand for election. Such nomination must be made to the Hon. Secretary of the Management Committee, in writing, at least four days before the date of the meeting. Only those so nominated can be voted for at the Annual General Meeting. No outgoing member, who without reasonable cause has failed to attend 50% of the Committee Meetings, shall be eligible for re-election. Employees of the Club shall not be eligible for election to the Committee. The Vice President and Vice Chairperson shall be elected the year prior to taking up office as the position of President and Chairperson unless there are extenuating circumstances which have been approved by the Management Committee. The Vice President and Vice Chairperson shall be invited to attend a minimum of five of Management Committee meetings in the year prior to their appointment as Chairperson and President without any voting rights.

8.11. The Hon. Secretary shall post the names of all nominees for membership of the Management Committee on the notice board in the club at least four days in advance of the General Meeting

8.12. When electing officers, election shall be by means of a secret ballot supervised by two tellers appointed by the General Meeting. Where the number of nominations does not exceed the number of vacancies for any position those nominated shall be deemed elected.

8.13. Elections shall be decided on the basis that the person or persons receiving the highest number of votes shall be deemed elected.

8.14. In the event of a tie for any position the Chairperson of the meeting shall decide by lottery without disclosing the names of those involved.

8.15. Any vacancies occurring on the Management Committee shall be filled by the co-option of ordinary members of the Club by the Management Committee.

8.16. Following consultation, the President, Vice President, Chairperson, Captains and Vice Captains shall propose a member for the position of “Vice President Designate”. The right of nomination to this position shall reside exclusively with the management committee. Nominations will be subject to approval of the Annual General Meeting of the Parent Club.

8.17 Following consultation, the Chairperson, President, Vice President, Captains and Vice Captains shall propose a member for the position of “Vice Chairperson Designate”. The right of nomination to this position shall reside exclusively with the Management Committee. Nominations will be subject to approval of the Annual General Meeting of the Parent Club. This person must be nominated by two Ordinary members of the Management Committee.

9.1. All funds accruing from whatever source are the responsibility of the Management Committee to be administered for the sole benefit of the Bandon Golf Club. The accounts shall be closed and balanced on the 31st of October each year and the Management Committee shall appoint an auditor (not a member of the committee) to audit the club accounts before the Annual General Meeting.

9.2. All cheques drawn on the bank account shall be signed on behalf of the Management Committee by at least two designated officers of the Management Committee but this committee shall have the power to alter this arrangement if deemed necessary.

9.3. The activities of the Ladies and Men’s Clubs shall be funded by the Management Committee.

9.4. No expenditure of the Funds of the Club shall be made unless previously authorised by the Management Committee and no contracts or agreements shall be entered into by any officer/s of the Management Committee or sub-committee thereof without the approval of the Management Committee for said contracts or agreements.

9.5. The Management Committee shall be responsible for the payment of the Annual Subscription Levy payable to the Golf Ireland in respect of the members of the Men’s and Ladies Club.

9.6. The Management Committee is authorised and empowered to borrow for the purposes of meeting the financial commitments of Bandon Golf Club.

9.7. No expenditure of the Funds of the Club shall be made unless previously authorised by the Management Committee.

9.8. The Management Committee shall have the power to appoint employees upon such terms and conditions as the Management Committee may think fit, and to terminate such appointments and to appoint temporary substitutes from time to time.

9.9. The Management Committee and Trustees shall be indemnified against liability out of funds and properly of Bandon Golf Club, any member or members or other persons guaranteeing or undertaking the discharge of any liability for the monies borrowed or debt or debts incurred for the purpose of the club shall be indemnified out of the funds of and property of the club.

10.1. The Management Committee shall prescribe, by mutual consent of both the Ladies and Men’s Clubs the days and times when the members of the Men’s Club or the Ladies Club shall have the use of the Course for competitions.

10.2. The Management Committee shall provide the facilities of the course and clubhouse to Golf Ireland at reasonable intervals in accordance with normal practice.

10.1. The Management Committee shall prescribe, by mutual consent of both the Ladies and Men’s Clubs the days and times when the members of the Men’s Club or the Ladies Club shall have the use of the Course for competitions.

10.2. The Management Committee shall provide the facilities of the course and clubhouse to Golf Ireland at reasonable intervals in accordance with normal practice.

11.1. All entrance levies and annual subscription for all membership categories shall be such sums as shall from time to time be fixed by the Annual General Meeting by way of Notice of Motion as per Article 14.4.3.

11.2. All subscriptions for membership and any levies raised from time to time become due on 1st January in each year and must be paid on or before 1st February in each year.

11.3. Subscriptions and Levies paid by Monthly Direct Debit shall commence on the 15th, January of each financial year of the Club and shall be paid over the 10-month period, ending 31st October.

11.4. Any member whose subscription and levies remain unpaid after 1st February shall be notified in writing that, unless his/her subscription and levies are paid by 1st March, he/she may have his/her membership rescinded. Members who default on their direct Debit payments shall be notified in writing that, unless his/her payments are brought up to date, he/she may have his/her membership rescinded. In the meantime, he/she shall not be entitled to play on the course or in competitions of the Club or use the facilities of the Clubhouse, until his/her subscription and levies are paid in full.

11.5. During their terms of office, the Chairperson, President, both Captains, the Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Course Officer, Hon. House and Social Officer, Hon Membership, Marketing and Business Development Officer, both Hon. Competition Secretaries and both Hon Youth Officers shall be exempt from Annual Subscriptions.

11.6. The Vice Chairperson and the Vice President receive a concession of 50% of the annual subscription. The remaining Hon. Officers of both the Men’s and Ladies club included at 7.1 will receive a concession of 50% of the annual subscription.

12.1. Members shall be entitled to invite visitors to the clubhouse, subject to their names being entered, by their host, in the visitor’s book. Members shall be responsible for such guests while on premises.

12.2. The Management Committee shall be empowered to grant visitors the use of the course and clubhouse, as temporary members, for periods of one day, one week, and one month or on such terms as the Management Committee shall from time to time determine.

12.3. Upon payment of the appropriate green fee a receipt will be issued which must be produced, on request, to any member of the Management Committee, Steward or Course Ranger.

13.1. Candidates for membership, except honorary or temporary members, shall be proposed by one ordinary member and seconded by another.

13.2. Nomination forms duly completed in respect of those seeking membership shall be posted in the Clubhouse for a minimum of 14 days.

13.3. The election of members shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee.

13.4. The Management Committee shall determine the number of vacancies and may at any time limit the number of members of Bandon Golf Club or refuse to take applications for such periods, as it thinks fit.

13.5. When a person has been elected a member, the Hon. Secretary of the Management Committee shall notify him/her by post of his/her election.

13.6. Members joining Bandon Golf Club after 1st August may be admitted to membership at such reduced rates as may be fixed by the Management Committee.

13.7. Any member desiring to resign membership of Bandon Golf Club shall give notice in writing to the Hon. Secretary of the Management Committee on or before 1st February otherwise his/her subscription for that year shall be payable.

14.1. Meetings of the Men’s Club and Ladies Club Committees shall be held not less than six times per annum.

14.2. The Men’s Club

14.2.1. The separate Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Club shall, save in exceptional circumstances, be held in November.

14.2.2. At least seven days’ notice, in writing or by E-Mail, of such A.G.M. shall be given to members.

14.2.3. All officers and members of the Men’s Committee to be elected at the Annual General Meeting must be nominated by two male ordinary members of Bandon Golf Club. The nomination must be signed by the nominee, indicating his willingness to stand for election. Such nomination must be made to the Hon. Secretary of the Men’s Club, in writing at least four days before the date of the meeting. Only those so nominated can be voted for at the Annual General Meeting. No outgoing member, who without reasonable cause has failed to attend 50% of the Committee Meetings, shall be eligible for re-election. Employees of the club shall not be eligible for election to the Committee.

14.2.4. The Hon. Secretary shall post the names of all nominees for the Membership of the Committee on the notice board in the Club at least four days in advance of the General Meeting.

14.2.5. Notice of Motions, proposed and seconded by two Ordinary Members, must be given in writing at least four days before the meeting to the Hon. Secretary who shall display them on the notice board at least four days in advance of the meeting. Amendments to such proposals may be accepted at the meeting without previous notice.

14.2.6. All motions shall be decided by a simple majority of members present and voting. Voting shall be a show of hands. If a majority of members present wish any motion or amendment to be put to a vote by ballot, that mode shall be adopted.

14.2.7. At General Meetings 30 shall form a quorum.

14.2.8. Officers and members of the Committee shall be elected as laid out in rule 7.1.

14.3. The Ladies Club

14.3.1. The separate Annual General Meeting of the Ladies Club shall, save in exceptional circumstances, be held in November.

14.3.2. At least seven days’ notice, in writing or by E-Mail, of such A.G.M. shall be given to members.

14.3.3. All officers and members of the Ladies Committee to be elected at the Annual General Meeting must be nominated by two female ordinary members of Bandon Golf Club. The nomination must be signed by the nominee, indicating her willingness to stand for election. Such nomination must be made to the Hon. Secretary of the Ladies Club, in writing at least four days before the date of the meeting. Only those so nominated can be voted for at the Annual General Meeting. No outgoing member, who without reasonable cause has failed to attend 50% of the Committee Meetings, shall be eligible for re-election. Employees of the club shall not be eligible for election to the Committee.

14.3.4. The Hon. Secretary shall post the names of all nominees for the Membership of the Committee on the notice board in the Club at least four days in advance of the General Meeting.

14.4. The Parent Club

14.4.1. The Annual General Meeting of the Parent Club shall, save in exceptional circumstances, be held in the month of December for the purpose of receiving the Annual Report and the audited Financial Statement of the Management Committee for the year ended the previous 31st October and for electing: 1. Office Bearers 2. Members of the Committee And transacting such other business of the Parent Club as may be on the agenda. For the purpose of the annual financial statement the term “audit” shall mean an examination by the Club accountants of the internal controls pertaining to the preparation of the accounts. The examination is to take place on an annual basis.

14.4.2. At least seven days’ notice, in writing or by E-Mail, of each General Meeting shall be given to each Ordinary member of the Club.

14.4.3. Notice of Motions and consideration of new rules or changes in existing rules, proposed and seconded by two Ordinary Members, must be given in writing at least four days before the meeting to the Hon. Secretary who shall put them on the notice board four days in advance of the meeting. Amendments to such proposals may be accepted at the meeting without previous notice.

14.4.4. A minimum of two-thirds of votes cast shall be necessary for the adoption of changes to the constitution. All other motions shall be decided by a simple majority of members present and voting. Voting shall be by a show of hands. If a majority of members present wish any motion or amendment to be put to a vote by ballot, that mode shall be adopted.

14.4.5. At General Meetings 60 shall form a quorum.

15.1. A Special General Meeting may be called at the request of the Management Committee or on a requisition to the Hon. Secretary of the Management Committee signed by at least 50 ordinary members of the club or at the request of a majority of the Trustees. A meeting called at the request of members should be called within a maximum of 28 days of such requisition. At least seven days’ notice of such meeting must be given to every ordinary member of the club. The requisition must set out the purpose for which the meeting is called and the purpose must be stated on the notice convening the meeting and no other matters may be raised at the meeting.

16.1. The Management Committee is empowered to make and alter bye-laws for the regulation of Bandon Golf Club other than the statutory rules for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquors. These shall be binding until set aside by a General Meeting. The Management Committee is empowered to withdraw the use of the clubhouse and course from any member or visitor who wilfully infringes any of the Rules or bye-laws of Bandon Golf Club. The Management Committee shall have available for members all such bye-laws for their information. The Management Committee shall be the sole authority and have sole responsibility for the interpretation of the rules and bye-laws.

16.2. Personal Property

16.3. All Personal belongings of members, visitors and others brought to, kept at or left on the premises of Bandon Golf Club shall be at the sole risk of the owners, and the Management Committee shall not be responsible for any loss or damage thereto, however arising. This rule shall not prejudice any claims by Bandon Golf Club or the owners against Insurance Companies in case of fire or when otherwise covered by insurance.

16.4. Rules in Relation to the Sale of Intoxicating Liquors

16.5. No excisable liquor shall be sold or supplied for consumption except in accordance with the statutory provisions effective at such time.

16.6. The club will only have six local sport club classics a year and the mixed foursomes will have a slot on the time sheet (Friday Afternoons 4:00 pm) every second week, allowing for Classics, President and Captains prizes.

17.1. The Management Committee with the authority of the Men’s or Ladies Committee concerned shall have the power to initiate disciplinary procedures, to be exercised only in accordance with the provisions of Clauses 17.2 to 17.5.

17.2. Any Member acting contrary to the Rules and Regulations of the Club, or any Member conducting himself or herself, whether inside or outside the Club premises so as in the opinion of the Management Committee to injure or discredit the character of the Club, may be admonished, suspended, or deprived of Membership by the Management Committee. A two-thirds majority of the Management Committee present and entitled to vote shall be required to pass a resolution depriving a member of membership or suspending a member for a period in excess of three months. A resolution to pass any other disciplinary sanction on a member may be passed by a simple majority of the Management Committee present and entitled to vote.

17.3. A Member desirous of making a complaint in reference to any of the foregoing matters (Clause 17.2) shall send the terms of same to the Honorary Secretary in writing with a request that same may be investigated by the Management Committee.

17.4. The Honorary Secretary shall, within seven days of receipt of such a written complaint, summon a meeting of the Management Committee to investigate same, and shall send to the Member against whom the complaint has been lodged at least three days before the holding of such a meeting, a notice in writing, setting forth the nature of the complaint, and the place, date and time for which the meeting has been called and shall further indicate in such notice that the Member is entitled to attend before the Committee in person or, to submit in time for such meeting, a written answer to such complaint.

17.5. The Management Committee shall have absolute discretion as to the conduct of the investigation and its scope, and as to the manner in which their decision shall be communicated to the parties to the complaint or to the members generally.

17.6. A Member who is dissatisfied with the decision to deprive him or her of membership, or to suspend him or her for a period in excess of three months, may appeal by notice in writing to the Honorary Secretary the decision of the Management Committee to the Trustees of the Club within 14 days of the receipt by member of notification of the decision against which he wishes to appeal. The Honorary Secretary shall within seven days of the receipt of the Notice of Appeal summon a meeting of the Trustees to hear same and shall send to the member appealing at least three days before the holding of such a meeting a notice in writing setting forth the place, date and time of the meeting. A majority of Trustees shall be required to determine the outcome of an appeal and their decision shall be final. Save in accordance with this paragraph, a decision by the Management Committee to impose a disciplinary sanction shall be final and no appeal shall be allowed in respect of same.

18.1 Bandon Golf Club is fully committed to safeguarding the well-being of their members. Every individual in golf should at all times, show respect and understanding for members rights, safety and welfare and conduct themselves in a way which reflects the principles of the organisation and the guidelines contained in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport & Code of Ethics for Golf for Young People in accordance with our Code of Conduct.
